Um, wordpress running on a webserver wouldn't have anything to do with a ftp server. They're separate.

Are you talking about your blog here at wp.com? If you are, you may need to be looking at the forums at http://en.forums.wordpress.org and not voer at wp.org. The software is different and the forums are separate.

You don't have ftp access here at wp.com though. The software is a shared environment and allowing ftp access would be putting all of the users at risk. Adverts aren't allowed either.

You are free to do both with the software from wp.org hosted with an actual host though.
